We provide information on the rights of psychiatric assistance dog handlers, along with guidance on training your own dog. We offer support in selecting the right breed to suit individual needs as a potential future psychiatric assistance dog, as well as access to a detailed online Training Guide for all In-Training members. This guide includes essential information about the Public Access Test required for full PADs membership. Additionally, we provide ongoing support for the public, businesses, friends, family, and carers.
PADs UK is fully inclusive and our programme is open to individuals with a variety of psychological conditions, provided they have a recommendation from their doctor or psychiatrist. Potential clients will be assessed to ensure they would benefit from an assistance dog, have a suitable dog, can meet the dog’s needs, and that the use of an assistance dog would complement their treatment plan.
